Spring is coming.....

Spring is coming...look outside; the tulip magnolias are budding, the irises and coleusses are popping through the ground, the azalea buds are more prominent!

That means you need to buy a new pair of gloves for the yard work.  You also need to walk through your home- evaluate your home's needs for updating and repair and begin the process that is required of each homeowner every year.  It is a challenge sometimes to maintain a home- money wise and energy wise- but necessary so that you do not lose anymore home value than the market in general is losing.  This does not mean that you have to go out and spend a fortune on updates but it does means that caulking, painting, gluing down that vinyl floor edge, painting the front door, trimming bushes/trees, cleaning out the gutters, and making your home a better place for you to live in. 

I maintain a list of items repaired/replaced and the dates that it is done so that when I decide to sell my home- I have the needed information for my home disclosure that is required for residential sales in South Carolina.  This is similar to raking leaves- I am reminded everytime I rake leaves in the yard that "I don't know why you are doing that- more leaves are going to fall!"  And they will...but I will have that many fewer to rake- besides my newest mulch pile is quite full right now.  So in the Spring, I strongly recommend that repairs are done to keep things from getting worse- they will if you don't keep up with them.

Spring in South Carolina is one beautiful season- we are so blessed to live in the lowcountry!  We encourage each of you to enjoy the lowcountry and show your pride by doing the HOME SPRING FLING!! Get out there and make those repairs/replacements while the weather is enjoyable because after Spring comes Summer- our hybernation months!!
